Lockdown Wedding Planning

We’re all a bit in limbo right now aren’t we. The excitement of your wedding may feel slightly tarnished by the current events, but it doesn’t have to be that way.  Slip on your loungewear, grab a cuppa and get planning. With more time on your hands, it’s the perfect time to get stuck in and make your day even better than ever.

Here’s a few planning ideas you can be cracking on with from the comfort of your couch.

1. Get Jiggy With It – Create Your Wedding Spotify Playlist

There’s nothing better than a boogie on the dance floor with drunk Uncle Pete and tipsy nanna, not to mention that all important first dance with your man. Now’s a great time to play some tunes and start thinking about your music. This will be great to share with your reception DJ or even use yourself if you’re thinking of playing your own music.

Remember to include a mix of chilled out background music, upbeat party anthems and a few smoochy numbers for the end of the night. Think about your guests, you could even contact them to ask them to suggest a few of their favourite tunes.

We often ask brides about their best memory of the big day and so many describe the fun they had on the dance floor with their friends and family at the reception. Music makes memories, and some of these tunes are likely to become a wonderful way to reminisce about your day.

Take a look at the Spotify playlist of most popular wedding songs.

2. Get Pretty Pinning on Pinterest

Pinterest has become the ‘go to’ place online to collect wedding inspo and keep your ideas together in one place. Whether you’re an avid pinner or a complete novice, we guarantee once you get stuck in, you’ll love it. You can use the platform to search, browse and create your own boards. From wedding dresses, to flowers, hair and make-up ideas. By researching now and saving your favourites, it really will help you make those important final decisions. Search for your favourite dress designers, venues and themes and share these with your suppliers later.

Did we mention we have a pretty page on Pinterest? Take a look at our Pinterest page and start swooning. You can share your board with us before your appointment, it really helps us make your dress dreams come true.

3. Get Social With Your Suppliers

We’re all in the same boat. Many suppliers are working from home and will be conducting much of their business on social media. Use this time to look at their online presence. Are they on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or LinkedIn? Have they got any online reviews, a podcast or YouTube channel?  The best of the best are using this time to share their products and services with you, their potential customers. Many, are going even further by offering advice, help and support by sharing live videos and events. Why not get in touch and ask any questions now, it’s a great time to build a rapport with your suppliers and they’ll probably be over the moon to hear from you.  If they have a waiting list, make sure you get your name down ready for when the lockdown ends. Hopefully after connecting with some of your potential suppliers, you’ll have a clear idea who you want to work with, and it’ll be all systems go when the restrictions are lifted.

4. Find Your Dream Dress

Now you’re talking! You’ve been dreaming about your dress since forever right? Well what’s stopping you? Your wedding dress appointment will no doubt be the one of the best experiences you’ll have and a moment you’ll treasure forever. There really is no feeling like that moment when you find ‘the one’.

Use your lockdown lounge time to look at dress styles and shapes. Research your favourite designers and find a bridal boutique that offer the range you are looking for. Remember, it isn’t essential to visit endless shops to find your dress. Many of our brides find their dress at their first appointment with us. A good boutique will take time to listen and understand what you are looking for. Wherever you decide to shop for your dress, make sure they have a good range of styles, experienced stylists that can help and advise and a trusted reputation. Think about your budget and what you are looking for and don’t be afraid to discuss this with your boutique before you visit.

If you want to make it extra special, some boutiques offer a more personal experience with cakes and fizz. You can see more about our appointments here.

5. Accessorise Your Day

Sometimes it the small details that bring together your wedding theme and make your ideas ‘POP’. Your guests will remember the little extras at your wedding and those fine touches really help personalise your day.

Use your lockdown time to think about your bridal accessories. Your bridal boutique will be able to offer advice about what will compliment your dress, but it will really help to know what you like. Would you like a veil, a floral crown or a belt? You can get some amazing ideas online. Don’t forget to share them on your Pinterest board!

You might even think about making your own invitations, wedding favours or table décor. There’s no better time to do your research and get creative!

6. Get Bopping and Practice Your First Dance

Does the idea of your first dance fill you with fear, or are you preparing to amaze your guests with a totally wow routine? Either way, it’s the perfect time to grab your fiancé, crank up the music and DANCE!!

Whether it’s a raunchy rumba or a slushy smooch, just kick of your slippers and enjoy yourself. You could even chill the prosecco, get dressed up and make an evening of it. If you do want to create a memorable dance you can get some ideas online, or even book some virtual dance lessons. If not, just let your hair down and have fun.

7. Write A Wedding Speech

It may be tradition for the men to make the speeches, but we’re modern women right! What a lovely surprise would it make on the day for you to stand up and share a few words.

Enjoy a quiet moment to write some heartfelt words about your partner, no doubt they’ll remember it forever. You might want to share a few silly stories or some memories about when you met. We’re sure your new husband will forgive you! Use this time to thank your guests for attending your wedding and tell them how much it means to you both.

If nothing more, raise a glass to your new husband and tell the world how amazing it feels to be his wife.

However you plan to spend your lockdown time, be sure to relax and enjoy it. On the upside, you have even more time to spend with your fiancé, prepare for your wedding and get excited. And when it does happen it will be AMAZING.

Of course, wedding dresses are our thing, but we have loads of experience with brides and suppliers so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need any help.

In the meantime, stay home, stay safe and remember, LOVE ISN’T CANCELLED!!
