Polly & Jake’s Wedding

What a beautiful Summer Wedding!

Polly & Jake were married in September this year, the sun shone and you can tell by the happy couples faces that their day was everything they had dreamed of! They were married at Thornton Church and then had a ‘festival themed’ reception at the village hall.

I asked Polly all about her proposal…
Jake and I love Cornwall and we stay in a small place called Mullion every year. We decided to go for a walk in St Just to a National Trust spot called ‘Cape Cornwall’. Jake and I walked to the top of the hill and we were surrounded by the sea. He asked me to sit beside him on a bench and he then pulled out a ring and got down on one knee. I cried a lot and rang my twin sister Megan who told me she knew as Jake asked her to help choose my engagement ring.

Where did you meet?
Jake and I met when I was 19 years old and he was 22 years old at a local pub in Leicester called The Brant Inn. We made small talk and 3 years later Jake plucked up the courage to ask for my number after we sat talking to one another at a friends house party. After this Jake asked me to go for a walk with him round Thornton Reservoir and then we had our first ‘official’ date to Twycross Zoo.

How did you feel on your big day?:
I remember waking up thinking that I was about to marry my best friend. I was nervous but rescue remedy helped!! I was excited when my bridesmaids arrived and was excited to see Jake at the alter. I began to feel sick when my make up was being done as the nerves got worse but once in my dress with my flower crown on I was ready and incredibly happy. When I saw Jake in church, WOW that feeling was indescribable. I was slightly worried about the running of the day but everything went perfectly.

What is your special memory of the day?:
My special memories were the speeches by my dad, Jake and my twin sister. The best men did a great speech for Jake too. Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Jake.

Any advice you would give to future brides-to-be?:
The advice I would give is enjoy every minute of the day as right now I sit here feeling happily married but unsure of what to do as the planning is over (so I’m decorating our bedroom). Soak up all the attention before from your loved ones and enjoy every single moment.

Tell us about your Dress Me Pretty experience and finding your dress:
I was very nervous when looking for my dress as being plus size I was concerned nothing would suit me. Kerry was amazing and made me feel very comfortable. Meg my twin, chose my dress from a selection of dresses and I chose 3 others. I put Meg’s choice on first and I remember looking in the mirror shocked at my reflection. As I walked into the changing room my mum and Meg began to cry and I knew at that moment that I had found my dress.
