Sarah & Geddy’s Wedding day!!
Sarah and Geddy got married back in April this year. I asked Sarah all about their special day and hope you enjoy reading all about it.
We loved meeting Sarah and being a small part of her big day! These images capture the love between them both and their family.
Where was the proposal and tell us a little about this?
He proposed at our house, in our bedroom. We’d had a lovely weekend together and he’d wanted to do it over the weekend but got too nervous. So on Valentines Day (2017) I’d made us a nice dinner and we had movie night. We then went up to bed to watch another film and he was being extra nice to me and kept asking me to get him a drink! I finally gave in and when I came back our door was shut, when I peeked round the door he’d put all our fairy lights on and was on one knee! I was SO surprised! We’d talked about marriage but I really didn’t expect it. It was perfect, just me and him in our home
The Wedding Venue
We got married at our local church in our village, St Lawrence. My husband has lived in Long Buckby all his life and his parents got married here so it was perfect. My parents also got married in a St Lawrence Church but in Manchester! We then went over to The Barns at Hunsbury Hill in Northampton for our reception.
Choosing our Wedding venue was easy! It was just such our style that we chose it instantly. It was the first one we viewed and everything suited us. It fit within our budget, wasn’t too big and had space for children to enjoy. It felt like we were still in our village as it’s a grade 2 listed building with lovely stone walls around and little out buildings
Tell us about your venue and reasons for choosing it? Our venue was set on the edge of Northampton overlooking the Nene valley. It had a main barn which held our wedding breakfast with a covered bar in the adjoining out building. It just felt really relaxed and we knew all our guests would love it. On the day the weather was gorgeous so everyone chilled outside on the patio tables, the children played and the atmosphere was brill!
The Wedding Dress
What can I say about Dress Me Pretty?! Just AMAZING! I’d first seen my dress on Pinterest a year before I got engaged. (Yes, I used to dream haha!) So when we got engaged I was on the hunt to see if it was still around and who stocked it. I was over the moon when I found out that Dress Me Pretty stocked the designer and it was only 50 minutes away! I called up and from then on my experience was fab. You initially got my details down and what I was looking for so on the day we could really focus on things I wanted, instead of just trying on everything. I was super happy when I arrived at my appointment and saw THE dress! I tried three on by that designer and a fourth by another. I knew instantly though that the Amelie dress by Watters was the one for me. I wanted to be comfortable and have a relaxed feel and this gave me just that. I chose my veil when my dress had been delivered and the minute Kerry chose it I knew it was perfect. I chose a cathedral style with lace around the bottom that matched my dress. I thought it brought it all together nicely and gave the dress a bit more wow factor for our church wedding.
I had an amazing experience at your shop and couldn’t recommend it enough! Thankyou for all your help. I just wish I could do it all again!
We used Impressions Caterers who came with our venue. From the get go they were amazing and Stuart gave us great ideas for our meal. We mentioned we were thinking about Camembert and so suggested a picnic platter for our starter. We loved that idea and the guests couldn’t get enough of it! It was the favourite part of the meal, as well as our pudding which we chose Raspberry Eton Mess served in Kilner jars. I adore alternate serving ideas and Stuart was able to accommodate this by using the jars instead of bowls We were so happy with. And I actually got to eat it which was a bonus! I’d made sure I’d chosen a comfy dress so I could haha!
My flowers were done by a local lady called Victoria at Flower Fairy Frankie on Instagram. She has also “got” my style and she completely nailed my flowers. I wanted a rustic seasonal bouquet and it was stunning! I held it every chance I got! We also chose a gin theme for our tables so we had bottles filled with flowers to give it a country theme. All the bottle collecting was worth it!
Our Wedding photographer was Gemma Willis based in Northampton
Where did you find your photographer and what was it that prompted you to book?
I went to a wedding fayre at Delepre Abbey in Northampton and as soon as I saw Gemma I knew I’d like her. That might sound a little silly but she has such a friendly face and her work was stunning. Natural and so relaxed that I enquired straight away, went home and showed my then fiancée and begged that we MUST have her haha! Gemma felt like a friend at our wedding on the day and was dream to work with. She made us feel comfortable and my husband (who hates photos) was so chilled and even enjoyed having his photo taken.
Our photos are stunning and half of them I didn’t even know Gemma was there! Couldn’t have asked for better and I’ll recommend her to everyone!
